Funding for musical projects
is available through NZ On Air, local City Councils and Arts Councils, and other private bodies. |
NZ On Air is a government agency
set up to support the broadcasting of NZ music and television projects. NZ On Air can help you by providing funds for you to make a music video, or by distributing and
promoting your music to radio stations. For more information and application forms, visit the NZ On Air website.

Most City Councils
have a budget to provide entertainment, you can approach them to help fund public performances. Local Arts Councils can also be approached and may be able to help fund performances and small budget recordings.

Don't be afraid to
approach private businesses for sponsorship of your musical projects. You need to be able to convince them of the benefit they will receive, so it pays to approach businesses you believe will gain valuable exposure from their association with you (who are your audience? What are they into?). Remember, if you don't ask, you don't get.
